Does Not Material Wealth Make People Happy?
.
One would think it is impossible to measure happiness. The Recent World Values Survey published in the New Scientist magazine identified the list of the most happy and most unhappy nations. About 65 countries participated in the survey. Scientists engaged in the world political and cultural changes suggest that the happiest people in the world are Nigerians.
Various nations have various “Formula for Success”. For instance, an American needs personal success, feeling of pride, high level of self-actualization and respect to feel happy.
The Japanese people closely connect the feeling of happiness with family and obligations taken over its members. Social responsibility, self-discipline, readiness to cooperate and friendliness also increases the feeling of happiness with Japanese.
The “Measurement of Happiness” is carried out every four years. The research illustrates that industrialized countries show the decrease in the average “level of happiness” despite the income growth after the Second World War. The exception is Denmark where people have started to better estimate their life quality level in the last three decades. Scientists assume that such mentality depends on the peculiarities of consumption culture.
Numerous researches keep demonstrating that the strivings for material wealth that grows with the increase of average income level is a grave factor of loosing happiness”.
